My clients ask..
How do I deal with all the overwhelming things?
When things feel overwhelming, we often find ourselves caught in patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that are no longer working. You might feel disconnected from others, insecure about yourself, or stuck doing things that don’t make you feel good. These patterns do not come out of nowhere. Our past experiences, family, culture, and the systems around us can shape them.
In our work together, we identify where those thoughts and feelings come from. We might talk about how culture, family, or larger systems have shaped how you see yourself and others. From there, we work on figuring out what thoughts and feelings we can change to help you feel better about yourself and your relationships. We find new ways of thinking, doing, and relating that help you feel more authentic and confident.
Throughout the process, our relationship is part of the work. I try to create a space that feels safe and real. I believe that healing happens from connection with others when we feel understood and supported. We focus on building that kind of connection with each other and exploring how to find it outside of therapy, too.
What does therapy with you look like?
I open every session by reviewing the previous session, and then open the floor to you to guide our focus. I structure sessions like this so you feel in control.
Things are flexible and collaborative, allowing us to transition between topics on a weekly basis.
If you need tools, I can bring them in.
If you just want to process something that happened, I’m here.
If you’re unsure where to go, I'll guide us more.
Although it can feel jumpy at first, clients usually notice over time that everything is connected.

My therapeutic style is a mix of relational-cultural theory and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). What that actually looks like in sessions is that you’ll get a sense of who I am - I show up as myself, not just as a therapist. I believe that growth occurs through connection, so the relationship I am building with you really matters.
At the same time, I’ll help you identify patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and introduce practical tools from cognitive-behavioral therapy when needed. I’ll also draw tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), depending on what we are working through.

My time alone and my time with others are equally important to me. I spend my time alone going on walks, coloring, drawing, and playing cozy video games. I spend my time with others, usually watching anime with my spouse, being with my pet birds, and hanging out with family.
